Texan Simone Biles-Most Decorated U.S. Gymnast in History!

Simone Biles is now the most decorated U.S. gymnast in history, thanks to Team USA bringing home the gold. She has EIGHT Olympic medals: Five gold, one silver, and two bronze. As NBC's Olympic Twitter put it:  "Comeback complete."

Biles may be the most decorated as far as medal count goes, but YouGov.com did a survey and asked, "Who is the greatest American summer Olympian of all time?"

The country voted, and the winner is...

Swimmer Michael Phelps, with 19% of the vote.

Simone Biles finished a close second, at 16%.

Jesse Owens came in third, with 9% of the vote.

A little further down the trough, Caitlin Jenner got 3%.

But the most actual votes went to "Not Sure". He or she got 33%.

In another poll, 40% of Americans say they watch both team and individual sports equally...while 14% prefer individual, and 10% like team sports. But 30% prefer NEITHER.

Biles is obviously AMAZING. Simone's performance on the uneven bars is still trending on X...

And 16-year-old Hezly Rivera, the youngest member of Team USA, was pretty awesome herself...

Simone Biles was born in Ohio, but moved to Texas at age 3. Here's the excerpt from Wikipedia:

Biles was born on March 14, 1997, in Columbus, Ohio,^[14] the third of four siblings.^[15] Her birth mother, Shanon Biles, was unable to care for Simone or her other children. All four went in and out of foster care.^[15][16]

In 2000, Biles' maternal grandfather, Ron Biles, and his second wife, Nellie Cayetano Biles,^[17] began caring temporarily for Shanon's children in the north Houston suburb of Spring, Texas, after learning his grandchildren were in foster care. In 2003, the couple formally adopted Simone and her younger sister Adria. Ron's sister, Shanon's aunt Harriet, adopted the two oldest children.^[18][15][19] She holds Belizean citizenship through her adoptive mother and considers Belize to be her second home.^[20] Biles and her family are Catholic.^[21]
