Texas Cracks the Top 10 for Most Likely Alien Abductions
Well y’all, it turns out that being friendly and full of Texas hospitality might be the key to getting abducted by aliens.
In honor of Alien Abduction Day (yep, that’s a real thing), a website analyzed reports from the National UFO Reporting Center—along with a healthy dose of “digital media” sources—to figure out which states are most likely to have their citizens beamed up by ET.
And wouldn’t you know it—Texas landed at #6 on the list of the Top 10 states with the highest chance of alien abduction. So, if you've seen something strange in the sky over your house...you’re not alone!
Coming in at #1 (no surprise) was California, where there’s a UFO sighting for every 1,075 people. The rest of the list is stacked with states like Washington, Florida, Oregon, and New York.
Here’s the full Top 10 rundown:
- California
- Washington
- Florida
- Oregon
- New York
- Texas
- Pennsylvania
- Arizona
- Colorado
- Nevada (hello, Area 51!)
The folks crunching the numbers didn’t exactly consult the aliens themselves, but based on UFO sighting data and other mystery reports, the odds of being abducted in the U.S. sit at about 1 in 1,834. That’s roughly 0.05%—so, maybe don't panic... but also, maybe don’t go night fishing alone at Lake Alan Henry.
And if you're wondering where aliens aren’t interested? The least likely states for an abduction include Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and several other Southern states.
So the next time you see something hovering over the cotton fields or streaking across the West Texas sky… just know—it might not be a drone.
Stay safe out there, Lubbock. And maybe keep your boots by the door—you never know when it’ll be your turn for a ride in the mother ship.
