Texas Mother Accused of Murdering 6-Year-Old Son to Collect Insurance Policy

There is a special place in hell for those who harm children. I like to think there's another lever below that special place for parents who harm and kill their own children.

Our news partners at KLTV are reporting that a "Houston woman has been accused of giving her 6-year-old son lethal doses of medications and over the counter drugs after taking out two life insurance policies on the boy."

Ashley Marks allegedly repeatedly drugged her son last summer, and she has now been charges with capital murder. Investigators allege Marks had took out two life insurance policies, each worth $50,000, for her son and she was the sole beneficiary. This woman allegedly murdered her own son for a total of $100,000. The policies were taken out about a month before the boy’s death.

"We believe (Ashley) was purposely giving him large quantities of NyQuil and meth in an effort to kill him and make it appear it was the grandfather's fault so she can take the money," said a prosecutor with Harris County.

Court records state that after an "autopsy ruled the boy’s death a homicide after finding toxic amounts of methamphetamine and cocaine and various antihistamines."

ABC13 in Houston says the boy's father, Mario Sanchez "will forever remember his son, Jason Sanchez-Marks, as a happy 6-year-old boy who loved to dance and play with his toy cars."
