Texas Official Blasts FBI For Response To Bourbon Street Terrorist Act
The suspect, identified as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, carried out the attack on New Year’s Day. Officials found an ISIS flag in his vehicle, and President Joe Biden confirmed Jabbar had posted social media content hours before the massacre, praising the terrorist group. Despite these alarming details, FBI Assistant Special Agent Alethea Duncan initially stated the attack was not being investigated as terrorism.
Patrick wasn’t having it. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he called Duncan’s comments “shocking, idiotic, and alarming,” and demanded her immediate removal.
“Our great Texas law enforcement already had enough information for me to determine that this was a deadly terrorist attack. An ISIS flag on the truck sends a pretty clear message,” Patrick wrote.
Patrick also revealed he had spoken with President-elect Donald Trump, urging swift action to restore faith in federal agencies. “He can’t get to the Oval Office soon enough,” Patrick said.
The FBI clarified Wednesday afternoon that they are aggressively investigating Jabbar’s known associates and running down leads. Still, the mixed messaging has drawn outrage nationwide.
This tragedy underscores a chilling reminder: the fight against terrorism isn’t over. By a long shot.
