During a high-energy press conference Thursday morning (yes, right there on the court), President Dr. Lawrence Schovanec and Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt revealed the details of what they’re calling “The Future of College Basketball.” With Red Raider legends, big-name alumni, and some very generous donors looking on, Hocutt made it clear—this is Texas Tech swinging for the fences!

“This is more than a renovation,” Hocutt said. “It’s a transformation—a reimagining of what college basketball can look like. United Supermarkets Arena is about to become the most innovative, immersive, and intimidating venue in the country.”

🚨 So, What’s Coming?

Let’s start with the halo scoreboard—we’re talking 360 degrees of high-def glory, the biggest in NCAA hoops history. The arena will be tricked out with augmented reality, AI-driven fan interaction, dynamic lighting, and real-time replays right on your phone or AR glasses.

Not impressed yet? How about a retractable roof, a sound system designed to weaponize crowd noise, and 22,500 seats--because we all know Red Raider fans don’t mess around! There’ll be luxury suites, a gamified student section, and even an esports lounge.

🏀 And for the Players?

It’s more than just bells and whistles for the fans. A brand-new, world-class performance center will rise next to the arena, equipped with recovery rooms, tech-forward training spaces, and a film room that’d make Spielberg jealous.

This move sets a national tone for college basketball. And for Lubbock? It’s a loud, proud flex that says: we’re here to win—and look dang good doing it.

Stay tuned, Red Raider Nation. The future just tipped off. GUNS UP!!!!!
