Steve Popovich, the man responsible for Meat Loaf  (the singer, not the dinner entrée)  has passed away.

Steve died of "unknown causes."  He was 68.

He made history back in 1976, when he started his own music label and discovered Meat Loaf and his "Bat Out of Hell" album.

Steve once said, quote, "Every major label passed on 'Bat Out of Hell' before [we] picked it up.  It was the day and age of the wimpy-looking, Peter Frampton-types.  Then here comes Meat Loaf, this huge guy with an amazing voice."

And now, "Bat Out of Hell" has gone Platinum...14 times over.
