The construction boom along Lubbock's 19th Street corridor is rolling right along. With the eventual opening of Shipley's Donuts next to the glorious Dutch Bros. location, it seemed as if there really wasn't much more space on that corner that hadn't been claimed.

Until now.

In the space between Shipley's and the Racer Car Wash, we have seen very rapid construction in recent weeks that caught my attention. As I pulled in to wash several pounds of West Texas dust off of my new ride, I asked the attendant at Racer what was going up in that space. She responded that Discount Tire was eventually going to occupy that expansive new building.

Amidst all of the fast food options and rumors that HEB will be setting up shop on the other side of the Loop on 19th Street, there really aren't many options other than the car dealerships across the street for tires and auto service. Of course, Take 5 has a fairly large presence farther west down 19th, but that corner at 19th and The Loop is just plain convenient for motorists.

As i drove past on Sunday, it seemed as if construction had ramped up even further...

Right now, Discount Tire has four Lubbock locations, with two outlets on 82nd Street, one on Slide Road, and another on Avenue Q. So, Northwest Lubbock is soon to join the club. After all, a lot of new business and home construction is happening in that area, along with anywhere south of 114th. So expect more locations to possibly pop up shortly.
