This Memorial Day, just like most of you, I will be firing up my grill to cook for friends and family. Nothing goes better with your backyard Memorial Day BBQ that a few patriotic songs!

Here's my list of the Top 5 all-time greatest Memorial Day songs:

#5 - Elvis Presley's "American Trilogy":

One of the most requested songs in Kool 98 history! The King symbolizes America in so many ways and with this song, he "takes care of business" for the USA!

#4 - Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA":

If you went to elementary school anytime from the early 80's on, you sang this song in the school's Memorial Day or July 4th play. This is the patriotic song that every patriotic song has been modeled after since it came out.

#3 - Neil Diamond's "America":

From the movie "The Jazz Singer" starring Neil. This is a concert favorite and he did a great version of it when he came to Lubbock.

#2 - John Wayne's "America, Why I Love Her":

I had to put this on here for two reasons: 1) Because it's fantastic...and...2) I was afraid JW would come back from the dead and punch me in the face if I didn't include it.

#1 - Ssgt. Barry Sadler's "Ballad of the Green Berets"

The single biggest hit of 1966. It went to #1 and sold over a million copies in that year. The most requested song of all genres.by Kool 98 listeners.
