Lubbock Shops See A Rush For Kpop Costumes As Halloween Approaches

If you’ve been scrolling through TikTok or wandering the Halloween aisles around Lubbock lately, you’ve probably noticed it--Kpop Demon Hunters fever has officially taken over Halloween 2025.

Google just dropped its annual list of the top-trending Halloween costumes, and the movie’s characters completely swept the Top 5. In order, they are Rumi, Zoey, Mira, Jinu, and Baby Saja. Yep, all five! (For the record, I have NO CLUE who these characters are.)

Even Derpy the Tiger from the movie clawed his way into the list at #8. The only non–Kpop Demon Hunters characters to break through were Chicken Jockey from Minecraft at #6, Labubu at #7, Elphaba from Wicked at #9, and The Lorax at #10.

So if you’re hitting up Lubbock’s Halloween parties, trunk-or-treats, or Nightmare on 19th Street this month, don’t be surprised if you see a lot of glowing swords, demon wings, and Kpop-style dance moves on the dance floor.

Kids, Dogs, and Duos Are All Getting in on It

It’s not just for the grown-ups either — Rumi is the #1 trending kids costume, which means Spirit Halloween and Party City in Lubbock are probably running low. (Might be time to check online)

Even pets are part of the fun — Labubu is this year’s #1 dog costume, so expect to see some four-legged Lubbock pups rocking pastel ears and spooky smiles.

And if you’re dressing up as a pair, Google says the most popular duo costume for 2025 is Astrid and Hiccup from How to Train Your Dragon.

Lubbock Loves to Go All Out

Around the Hub City, Halloween’s always been a big deal — from the Pumpkin Trail at the Arboretum to The Garden’s annual costume bash, locals know how to celebrate right. And if you’re looking for a little makeup inspiration, the most-searched Halloween look in the country this year is KISS — a timeless choice that fits perfectly for anyone hitting the bar scene or the Depot District.
