Two Killed in Crash on Highway 84 & CR 2950, Both From Lubbock
Two people have passed away following a two vehicle accident that happened on the way to Slaton from Lubbock on Saturday, April 24th.
KAMC News reports that 25-year-old Christian Monroe Tucker of Brownfield was traveling east on US Highway 84 near County Road 2950 around 20 minutes before midnight when he struck a Chevy Suburban. At this time, it's unknown whether or not the Suburban was just stopped in the roadway, or if it failed to yield the right of way when crossing over to US Highway 84.
Texas DPS says that the accident happened in the area pictured below:
Both vehicles collided, and Tucker, along with his passenger, 24-year-old Kristyn Mae Smith of Lubbock, were taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries. Reports say that Smith was wearing her seatbelt, but Tucker was not. Their current condition is unknown.
However, the driver and passenger of the Suburban, 52-year-old Willie Shawn Lang and 37-year-old Temera Lasha Sapp, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. Both were confirmed to have been wearing their seatbelts, but still died as a result of the injuries they sustained in the crash.
DPS said that aside from the crash happening so late at night, conditions were dry and clear, indicating that this collision wasn't the result of any weather-related causes.
