Lubbock Police responded to 2 separate crashes that happened throughout the day of Tuesday, July 13th.

The first crash happened at around 5:04 a.m. KAMC News reports that officers initially responded to reports of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian near 34th Street and Avenue G. It's said that an Audi Q7 was traveling westbound on 34th Street as the pedestrian, now identified as 29-year-old Elvis Sanchez, was attempting to cross 34th. The Audi collided with Sanchez.

Officers arrived and located Sanchez with serious injuries. He was later pronounced dead at University Medical Center, according to a release later in the day from LPD. At the time, all of 34th Street, except one eastbound lane were closed, but roads were reopened at roughly 8:15 a.m.

The driver of the Audi has not been publicly identified, and it hasn't been confirmed whether or not they face charges.

Then, later in the day, Lubbock Police responded to a 3-vehicle crash involving a Citibus.

KAMC News reports it happened a bit before 3 p.m. at the intersection of 19th Street and Iola Avenue. Police arrived on scene and located 2 victim with non-serious injuries. The identities of those involved haven't been released, nor is their current condition known.

Drivers at the time were encouraged to avoid the area if possible.
