United Supermarkets Is Collecting School Supply Donations Through July 26th

It's hard to believe, but back-to-school season is already knocking on the door.

If you're anything like me, summer just started. Yet somehow, school supply aisles have magically appeared, and parents across Lubbock are already thinking about notebooks, pencils, backpacks, and everything else that comes with a new school year.

The good news? Helping local students get the supplies they need is about to become incredibly easy.

The United Family Is Kicking Off Its Annual School Supply Drive

For the 15th straight year, The United Family is partnering with area school districts to help make sure students across the South Plains start the school year with the tools they need to succeed.

The official kickoff takes place Monday, July 13th, at 10:30 a.m. at Market Street, 4205 98th Street in Lubbock.

Following a short ceremony, area school superintendents will receive gift cards for a fun mini school supply shopping spree to help launch this year's campaign.

That's a pretty neat way to kick things off!

Helping Is As Easy As Buying Groceries

One of my favorite things about this fundraiser is how simple it is.

From July 13th through July 26th, shoppers can visit any United Supermarkets, Market Street, or Amigos location in Lubbock and donate right at the checkout register.

There's no minimum donation.

You can add any dollar amount to your grocery bill, and every little bit helps local students get the supplies they'll need when classes begin.

Sometimes a buck or two doesn't seem like much, but when thousands of shoppers each chip in a little, it adds up in a big way.

Local School Leaders Are Joining The Effort

Several area school districts are taking part in the kickoff event, including:

• Lubbock ISD
• Frenship ISD
• Lubbock-Cooper ISD
• Roosevelt ISD
• Slaton ISD
• Shallowater ISD

That's one thing I really love about our community. When it comes to helping local kids, everyone seems to pull in the same direction.

A Lubbock Company Giving Back To Lubbock

While The United Family now serves communities across Texas and New Mexico, its roots are still right here in Lubbock.

The company is celebrating 110 years in business and continues to operate its headquarters and distribution centers in the Hub City. With more than 100 grocery stores under banners like United Supermarkets, Market Street, Amigos, and Albertsons Market, The United Family has remained committed to supporting the communities it serves.

So the next time you're checking out at your neighborhood United, Market Street, or Amigos, consider adding a dollar or two to your total.
