Lubbock is known to have some crazy weather and right now is definitely the season for it. We've only seen a little bit of it so far this year, but you never know what might lurk around the corner. Strong winds, hail, torrential downpours, tornadoes, you name it, we get it all. Have you ever considered a storm shelter?

Many of the older homes in Lubbock have them built-in, but I've noticed newer homes tend not to have them and that could create a dangerous situation if you don't have a good room in your house to hide in during a twister.

Here are a couple of unique storm shelter ideas for anyone that might be in the market to build their own or have one installed. Not only will they increase the value of your home, but they will give you peace of mind during those crazy nights in West Texas that all but shake the roof completely loose.

These are pretty cool. I especially like the last one. It's totally swanky.

The worst thing that could happen by adding a storm shelter or panic room to your home is that you would never actually use it for an emergency, but if you live your whole life without having to use it at all for an emergency, isn't that also a good thing? Either way, you'd have some extra space for canned vegetables, a man cave, a playroom for your kids or any number of things just by adding one to your home.

Do you have an interesting storm cellar here in Lubbock? We'd love to see it! Send us a video or comment on our Facebook page.
