What Things Are People in Lubbock Scared Of?
Most of my life, I've had a debilitating fear of spiders. Or arachnophobia. I had it BAD!
I'm happy to say 'had' in the past tense, because I actually got over it. It's true! I kinda had to though when I moved my family to the lake 8 years ago.
A little backstory...
I grew up going to Roaring Springs Ranch. If you don't know anything about Roaring Springs, it's very, very 'natural'...or it was when I was a kid. Basically, it's a big campground with a great pool and trails for horses and motorcycles all over the place. It's also HUGE, especially for a kid like me who went there from the age of 6 to my early teens.
I would ride my motorcycle all over that place with my buddies and we were specifically looking to kill rattlesnakes and trap tarantulas. I would seriously pick up a tarantula and put it in these little plastic cages we had. I did this countless times. I had no fear at all of a tarantula, but a wolf spider or a black widow or a daddy longlegs...I was OUT!
This all changed when I moved to Buffalo Springs Lake and had no choice but to get over my fear since spiders are a daily nuisance out there. I had read that doing a self affirmation about your fear can help you get over it, so here's what happened...
I told myself, "You're not scared of spiders anymore. They aren't going to hurt you and they're good for the ecosystem and for the outside of your home."
That was it. It worked! Nowadays, I'll pick up a wolf spider and put him outside where he belongs and tell him to stay out of the house. I still can't believe that self affirmation thing really worked!
We asked you what you were afraid of and your answers (and the thing I'm still scared of) are included in the gallery below!

How do YOU participate in the daily Facebook question?
It's simple! Just go like our Facebook page right here, check it daily and answer the question. Usually, we ask about current events (ZERO political questions), food, pets, holidays and things along those lines. Basically, we just want to get to know our listeners better and we want to know your opinions on certain things.
Plus, it's FUN!
