You Could Win 1 of 4 Cars This Saturday Just for Playing Golf for Charity
The 2nd Annual Brooke Ashton Parker Memorial Golf Tournament is this Saturday (July 14) at the Reese Golf Course. Come celebrate Brooke's life and help raise money for some hard working and very deserving young kids in our area.
I have a very close connection to this family and this event. Brooke Ashton Parker was killed by a drunk driver at age 25 in 2016. I have been friends with Brooke's father, Brett, for years. He and his family truly are wonderful people. And they've taken their own personal tragedy and turned it into a force for good in Lubbock.
Brooke was always a positive light wherever she went, and as an athletic trainer for Lubbock Cooper ISD she touched the lives of hundreds of students for the better.
That's why the Parker family created a scholarship in her name, to continue her work and foster her legacy. This is the 2nd annual golf tournament, and they've been able to give away even more scholarships to local high school students this year, $10,000 last year and this year, a total of $12,500!
For the tournament this year, they've got a number of free cars you could win with the hole-in-one competition holes, including a Miata from Mears Mazda, and two different trucks from Pollard Friendly Ford.
Plus, there will be other competitions, like a longest drive and closest to the pin, both with cash prizes. Bone Daddy's will be serving breakfast and lunch for the players, too.
There are two flights, one at 8:30 a.m. and the second at 1:30 p.m., with cash prizes for the winners of each flight. There will be a raffle going on during the day, cornhole, and other fun for people that may not golf, but still want to be a part of the fun. I went out last year and just ate and talked to people for a while and had a great time.
Also Lyft partnered with the foundation this year so that all golfers who want to drink will have a $40 credit for Lyft to take them to and from Reese Golf Course so no one is driving impaired.
Get your golf team together and get registered today. Saturday is going to be a blast for everybody, and it will do some great work for local kids headed to college too.
