ZZ Top Cancel Tour With Jeff Beck Following Dusty Hill’s Injury
A nasty slip for Dusty Hill has forced ZZ Top to call off the rest of their tour with Jeff Beck, beginning with the show that was supposed to take place in Michigan tonight.
The bassist, 65, fell Tuesday inside the band's tour bus, injuring his hip, according to promoter Live Nation. ZZ Top had not yet arrived in advance of a concert at the DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston. Live Nation officials add that Hill needed "immediate attention" to the injury.
ZZ Top were scheduled to play 13 more co-headlining shows with Beck through Sept. 13. Ticket holders can receive refunds at point of purchase. Those who planned to attend the DTE event can also exchange their tickets for one of two other upcoming events: a Queensryche performance tomorrow night or a comedy festival on Friday.
Health issues are nothing new to ZZ Top. A bout of kidney stones for Hill slowed the start of this same tour back in July. And Beck had to postpone his most recent European dates after being slowed by his own illness last summer.
