Contestants on “Wheel of Fortune” Had Never Heard of Auckland, New Zealand

Auckland…the largest city in New Zealand... was one of the puzzles on last night's "Wheel of Fortune".  And this just goes to show how bad Americans are with geography:

None of the three contestants had ever heard of Auckland, and they had to fill in every single letter of the puzzle before one of them got it right.

With only two blank letters left, one of them guessed "Archland".

And to make matters worse, Pat Sajak made fun of them and explained that Auckland is the CAPITAL of New Zealand…which it's not.  Wellington is.

Wellington is the country's third-largest city.  The second-largest is Christchurch, where that 6.3 earthquake struck earlier this week.
