Lamesa’s Chicken Fried Steak Festival/Hot Air Balloon/Car Show/5k Is This Weekend

Did you know that the chicken fried steak was invented in Lamesa? It was. that's why they have the festival every year. And thankfully it has already been a year and its time to do it again!

Back in 1911 a short order cook, James Donald Perkins, reportedly misunderstood an order and combined the fried chicken with a steak and food history was made. Now every year during the last weekend in April, Lamesa celebrates its claim to food fame with a party, hot air balloon flight, car show, concert, wine tasting, and of course the chicken fried steak cook off.

The event is free for the whole family, and you can buy tickets to eat the world's best chicken fry at the Chamber Of Commerce at 123 Main in Lamesa. Get the full event schedule here, and follow the Google map below to find your way there Friday and Saturday.

Chicken Fried Steak Kick-off Dinner on Friday, April 27th. The menu will be delicious, freshly hand battered steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, gravy, rolls & cobbler. Tickets will be on sale ONLY at the Chamber of Commerce at 123 Main--The event will be held in the Forrest Park Community Center from 5:30pm-8:30pm.
