"Alright Alright Alright," now we know. After months of speculating on whether Matthew McConaughey will run for Governor of Texas, we now know that he won't.

Deadline reports that Matthew McConaughey released a video via his Instagram breaking the news to us.

McConaughey talks about the path he's been on in the last two years, saying he has studied both Texas politics and American politics. He says learned a lot about the problems we need fixed, and that our politics "need new purpose."

McConaughey says he is humbled and inspired to be considered for political leadership, but says it's a path he has "chosen not to take at this moment." But he wants to continue doing everything he can to "be most useful in this life going forward."

McConaughey's decision comes just about two weeks before the deadline for potential candidates to file for the Texas primary.

McConaughey will instead focus on how to "be most useful in this life going forward"  saying, "I'm going to continue to work and invest the bounty I have by supporting entrepreneurs, businesses and foundations that I believe are creating pathways for people to succeed in life, organizations that have a mission to serve and build trust while also generating prosperity. That’s the American dream.”

One thing McConaughey didn't mention was which political affiliation he would have ran as. Would he have ran as a Republican, Democrat, or as an Independent? Perhaps we'll never know.

What we do know is that current Texas Governor, Greg Abbott, will look to fend off Beto O’Rourke, who launched his campaign earlier this month.
