Roger Waters has unveiled the first trailer for his upcoming concert film, Roger Waters The Wall.

As previously reported, the film is scheduled for a one-night-only theatrical engagement on Sept. 29 — an event that will be accompanied by a Q&A session reuniting Waters with Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, during which the former bandmates will “reunite over the breaking of bread and the answering of questions sent in by fans.” Roger Waters The Wall will be screened at more than 2,000 theaters worldwide.

As Waters pointed out in a press release announcing the impending arrival of the film, Roger Waters The Wall combines concert documentary footage from his 2010-13 The Wall Live tour with a personal look at Waters paying tribute to his grandfather, who died in World War I, and his father, who was killed in World War II. “We were a big family on the road, 189 of us, give or take the odd Snoozy Walrus,” he reflected. “With your help, this coming 29th September will be the perfect way to remember not just our loved ones but the other guys’ loved ones — fallen, living and as yet unborn.”

What it all adds up to, as you can see in the visually impressive trailer above, is a movie that distributor Picturehouse promises “unfolds on many levels: an immersive concert experience of the seminal 1979 Pink Floyd album, a road movie of Waters’ reckoning with the death of his father in Italy in 1944, and a stirring film that highlights the human cost of armed conflict.”

Waters, meanwhile, continues work on his next solo effort, which will also explore themes shadowed by death. “I don’t want to give too much away, but it’s couched as a radio play. It has characters who speak to each other, and it’s a quest,” he told Rolling Stone. “It’s about an old man and a young child trying to figure out why they are killing the children.”
