Summer has officially started, so here's a great video to kick things off: Someone built a homemade waterslide in their backyard...and it has a LOOP.

In the YouTube video, one person does the loop while another person goes down a SECOND waterslide that ramps him THROUGH the loop.

How awesome is that?!?! By the way, unless you're some kind of brilliant carpenter, DON'T try to build one of these for your family. That's just asking for trouble.

Although it’s been popular for more than five decades, let’s face it, the Slip ‘N Slide is really just a sheet of thin, slippery plastic doubling as a water slide. Sound dangerous? As this compilation shows, it can be, especially when you’re crazy enough to add ramps, boogie boards and kiddie pools to the mix.

Still, the venerable toy has been responsible for a great deal of fun ever since it was introduced in 1961. And many people (including us) are willing to brave it for relief from the blazing sun. But even if it isn’t your cup of tea, you can still get a few laughs watching everyone else fall flat on their butts.

I was actually wondering about the inventor of the Slip 'n Slide and I came across this from Wikipedia:

"The creator was inspired by his son sliding on wet, painted concrete. He used his job as an upholsterer to obtain a long strip of Naugahyde, sewed a tube to pass a hose into, and punctured the tube sporadically to allow water to spurt out. Carrier sold his invention to Wham-O where they replaced Naugahyde with plastic to reduce production costs."
