A new line of clothing inspired by the songs of Jimi Hendrix will soon hit the shelves of New York-based upscale retailer Bloomingdale's. The collection has been fully licensed by Experience Hendrix, LLC, the company founded by Hendrix's father to make sure that his son's image is not exploited.

We’ve been closely following the news coming out about ‘All Is By My Side,’ the upcoming biopic about Jimi Hendrix, from the beginning of its filming to drummer Kenny Aronoff‘s work on the soundtrack to the  lack of support given it by Hendrix’s estate.

Summertime means sequels, and if a story about the Jimi Hendrix estate expressing their lack of support for a movie about the guitar hero sounds familiar… that’s because it happened this week for the second time in a year.

The annual Thanks Jimi Festival in Poland has set a world record for the largest guitar ensemble. Over 7,000 pickers showed up to follow Jimi Hendrix‘s brother Leon and a talented group of bandleaders in playing ‘Hey Joe.’

Guitarist Ron Wood recently recalled his friendship with the late, great Jimi Hendrix. Speaking on their friendship recently on his show on Absolute Radio UK, Wood said  “Jimi was a really sweet, well-mannered boy, and I’m very honored to have shared a little space of time with him back in the late 1960s.”

As the lineup for the 2012 Experience Hendrix tribute tour has expanded, so has the number of dates for the annual concert trek honoring the late, great Jimi Hendrix. This year’s edition is now up to 21 dates, including recently added concert stops in Florida and Colorado, plus a second show in Austin, Texas.

More than two dozen giant Gibson guitar sculptures designed in honor of the Doors, Motley Crue, Jimi Hendrix, Ozzy Osbourne and others have been decorating various spots on Los Angeles’ Sunset Strip for the better part of a year, and now those 20-foot-tall axes will be auctioned for charity.
