Ohio, Cincinnati and Xavier all won on Sunday to join Ohio State in the NCAA basketball tournament round of 16. Top-seeded North Carolina and Michigan State also won to advance to the regional semi-finals. Here’s a full recap of the day’s action in the NCAA tournament:

The top seven ranked teams asserted their dominance in week five as each rolled to convincing victories. Meanwhile eight ranked teams suffered losses as the list of undefeated teams was trimmed.

As you might expect this time of year, there are not a lot of marquee games and only one matchup between top 25 teams (#3 Alabama vs. #23 Penn State). But there are still a lot of intriguing matchups that will start to tell us who are contenders and who are pretenders...

The NCAA title game can be summed up with one word:  Ugly. How ugly?  The combined 95 points between UConn and Butler shattered the previous combined low in a shot-clock-era title game by a whooping 26 points...  How ugly?  Butler didn’t hit their second two point shot until 12:32 mark in the second half, and ended the game shooting an inconceivably bad 12 for 64...

The Texas Tech Lady Raider basketball team saw their season come to an end as they fell 55-50 to St. John’s in their first round game of the 2011 NCAA Women’s Championship.
