Here's the press release I got from the Texas Lottery:

Jackpot fever is popping up all over Texas this week with $520 million on the line as the Mega Millions® and Powerball® jackpots swell. Tonight’s Mega Millions jackpot is an estimated $170 million, and Wednesday’s Powerball® jackpot is an estimated $350 million, the largest lottery jackpot currently up for grabs in the U.S., and the third largest Powerball jackpot on record.

Tonight’s Mega Millions jackpot started as a $12 million prize on March 15, and is the result of 17 draws without a jackpot winner. The Mega Millions game made history on March 30 of last year with an advertised $640 million jackpot, the largest jackpot in world history for any lottery game.

The current Powerball jackpot started as a $40 million prize on Apr. 3, and is the result of 12 draws without a jackpot winner. This is the third largest Powerball jackpot and the seventh largest jackpot of any game in U.S. history. The largest Powerball jackpot was an advertised $550 million for the drawing held on Nov. 28, 2012.

Texas has had eight Mega Millions jackpot prize winners, but has not had a Powerball jackpot winner. The largest Mega Millions jackpot winner in Texas, William R. Kiefer of Katy, won $144 million in January 2010.

Mega Millions players win the jackpot by correctly matching five numbers from a field of 56, plus the Mega Ball number from a field of 46. The second-tier prize, awarded for matching all five numbers, but not the Mega Ball number is $250,000. Players can increase their second-tier prize to $1 million if they purchase the $1 add-on feature Megaplier with their ticket. Odds of winning the jackpot prize are one in 175,711,536, and overall odds of winning any prize are one in 40.

Powerball players win the jackpot by correctly matching five numbers from a field of 59, plus the Powerball number from a field of 35. The second-tier prize, awarded for matching all five numbers, but not the Powerball number is $1 million. Players can increase their second-tier prize to $2 million if they purchase the $1 add-on feature Power Play with their ticket. Odds of winning the jackpot prize are one in 175,223,510, and overall odds of winning any prize are one in 32.
