Bill Bruington will have served 60 years in the banking industry this September. In honor of his service, Vista Bank will be serving hamburgers on Friday, September 6th at 12:00 PM at Vista Bank, Petersburg. (1523 Main Street)

What makes Bill unique from most other bankers is that he has served all 60 years at the same bank!

Bill was born and raised in Petersburg. He graduated from Petersburg High School in 1952 and then went to Lipperts Business School graduating in June of 1953. In September of the same year he was hired for a Teller position at First State Bank in Petersburg. Over the years he was promoted to Assistant Cashier, Cashier, Vice President and Executive Vice President.

In 1976 the bank sold to Citizen’s Bancshares and then in 1983 First State Bank purchased the bank back from Citizen’s Bancshares and Bill was promoted to President/Director. He served in this capacity until First State Bank sold to Security Bank,
Ralls in 1998. In 2008 Security Bank changed its name to Vista Bank. Bill has stayed active in the bank since 1998 as consultant,coming to work most every day.

Bill also served on the Volunteer Fire Department for over 25 years, as a Director of American Institute of Banking in the Lubbock Association, Stock Show Board, Floydada Country Club Board and active for several years in the Petersburg Chamber of Commerce.

He has been a member of the Lions Club for 54 years and Masonic Lodge for 55 years. He has served as board member for many years on the Petersburg Cemetery Association and is still very active helping to oversee the cemetery. He is a member of the
First Baptist Church.

Bill was married to Ida Neis on July 17, 1955. Ida passed away last fall after a happy marriage of 57 years. They have two sons, Dennis and his wife, Jackie, of Houston, Texas, and Kevin of Lubbock, Texas. Two beautiful granddaughters, Kendall & Kathryn
Bruington of the Austin area.
