Comedy's version of the Grammys is on its way!

The first annual Comedy Awards ceremony will be held on March 26th.  It'll be broadcast on April 10th.  (It'll air simultaneously on Comedy Central, Spike TV, TV Land, VH1 and Nick at Nite.)

The show will recognize "the year's best comedy films, television series and digital content" . . . and will feature awards for "writers, directors and actors as well as lifetime achievement honors."

There used to be a comedy awards show called the American Comedy Awards, but it was shut down in 2001 after 15 years.  And in 2003, Comedy Central launched another one called The Commies, but it didn't last either.
