9/11 MEMORIAL

As most of you know, I was on vacation in the Big Apple last week. I went and saw a lot of neat stuff, ate a lot of great food, and had a great time on The Today Show with my new BFF, Al Roker.

But the most sobering part of the experience was visiting the 9/11 Memorial, located at the former site of the Twin Towers.

The memorial was built to honor all the lives that were lost -- not only in the Twin Towers, but at the Pentagon and the crash in Pennsylvania.

About The 9/11 Memorial (from 911memorial.org):

The 9/11 Memorial is located at the site of the former World Trade Center complex and occupies approximately half of the 16-acre site. The Memorial features two enormous waterfalls and reflecting pools, each about an acre in size, set within the footprints of the original Twin Towers.

I was working at KAMC News 28 on 9/11, and the impact that it had on me, even from thousands of miles away, was huge. Visiting the 9/11 memorial was something that I felt I needed to do.

This was a sobering experience, and one that I will never forget.
