Carved Pumpkins Needed For Lubbock’s Pumpkin Trail
It is almost time for you to show off those carved pumpkins at the annual Pumpkin Trail at the Lubbock Memorial Arboretum.
The 13th Annual Pumpkin Trail will be held on October 21st and goes through October 24th. Daytime hours for the upcoming Pumpkin Trail are Friday through Sunday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Evening Hours are Thursday and Sunday 6-9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 6-10 p.m.
But before the Pumpkin Trail can get going, they are going to need your help. In year's past, there have been more than 1,800 pumpkins and more than 25,000 people have attended. This year's goal is to have 2,000 pumpkins. The more pumpkins, the longer the trail.
According to a press release from the City of Lubbock, groups bringing ten or more pumpkins will get a sign with your name or logo on it. So when should you carve and drop-off your pumpkins?
Pumpkin carvings must be family-friendly and appropriate for even the youngest child. We are asking all participants to carve their pumpkins no earlier than Monday, October 18, so that they stay fresh throughout the four-day event. Whether you plan to carve one pumpkin or a dozen, call Hodges Community Center at 767.3706, and let us know how many pumpkins you are bringing as we build toward our goal. In addition to pumpkins, we are also signing up volunteer groups to help each night as candle lighters, trail guides and counters.
Drop-off of the pumpkins will be from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 20 at the Lubbock Memorial Arboretum. They will also accept pumpkins until 3 p.m. on Thursday, October 21. The drop-off location will be in the East Corner of the parking lot
As always the Pumpkin Trail will be at the Lubbock Memorial Arboretum and Garden & Arts Center and parking is available from 40th-44th St. and University Ave. There will also be additional parking and a park and ride feature at Safety City at 46th and Ave. U which is southeast of Clapp Park.
