City Of Lubbock Launches Free Rain Harvesting Barrel Program
The City of Lubbock is offering free rain harvesting barrels for homeowners and non-profit organizations that wish to capture and use rainwater.
The barrels are funded by the High Plains Water District and can be applied for online.
According to the city's website, The City of Lubbock Water Utilities Education Team has launched the program in order to "educate citizens about how rain harvesting can contribute to water conservation in our city."
This program will reward 20 rain barrels to homeowners and 10 rain barrels to non-profit organizations that qualify.
In order to qualify residents must:
- Live within the City of Lubbock city limits
- Own your home
- Have gutters
- Be in good standing with City of Lubbock Utilities
Non-Profit Organizations may qualify if:
- Located within the City of Lubbock city limits
- Business location cannot be a rental
- Have gutters
- Be in good standing with City of Lubbock Utilities
- Able to provide official documentation of nonprofit standing
*City of Lubbock employees are not eligible for the program
