COVID-19 continues to force the delaying and/or cancellation of events across Texas.

Earlier this week, the 2020 edition of the South Plains Balloon Round-up, which was to be held at Buffalo Springs Lake in September, was canceled.

The organization's announcement said, "We are sad to announce that the 2020 South Plains Balloon Round-up has been cancelled. Unfortunately, these uncertain times make it impossible for us to ensure safety to our pilots, crew and guests. We are looking forward to next year...look for us to return in Sept. 2021."

The South Plains Balloon Round-Up was originally called the South Plains Hot Air Balloon Round-up and was first held in 2004 at Frenship High School in Wolfforth. The round-up eventually moved to Buffalo Springs Lake where it's held in early September, about three to four weeks before the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.
