The Texas Comptroller's Office has announced the dates for the 2015 Texas Sales Tax Holiday/Tax-Free Weekend.

This year’s Sales Tax Holiday will be August 7, 8 & 9. During the Sales Tax Holiday, most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks priced under $100 will be exempt from sales and use taxes, which could save shoppers about $8 on every $100 they spend.

Subject to the criteria from the Comptroller's Office, all sales of qualifying items made during the holiday period qualify for the exemption, including items sold online, or by telephone or mail. Layaway plans can also be used to take advantage of the sales tax holiday.

The South Plains Mall in Lubbock will be open for extended hours during the Tax-Free Weekend: Friday, August 7 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday, August 8 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, August 9 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Most other malls across West Texas have not announced expanded operating hours for Tax-Free Weekend.
