Dave Davies Hoping for a Kinks Reunion ‘Before We Die’
At various points in 2013 and 2014, Ray and Dave Davies both expressed a hope that they'd find a way to get the Kinks back together in time for the band's 50th anniversary. Now that they've missed the deadline, Dave sounds like he's relaxed his hopes for a reunion.
Saying anything that happened would probably coincide with their 51st anniversary, Davies told ABC News Radio that there really isn't anything in the works. "It'd be a shame if me and Ray didn't try and do something, but I don't know what we're gonna do," he said. "I hope we do something before we die, anyway."
And if it does happen, that "something" may not be all that impressive in scope. Asked about the odds of a tour, Davies responded, "That would be nice, but I think to do just one event somewhere would be good enough for me."
In the meantime, Dave is keeping plenty busy with his solo projects, which include the recent studio LP 'Rippin' Up Time' and an upcoming documentary, 'Rock 'N' Roll Journey,' that chronicles his return to live performance after suffering a stroke in 2004. "It's basically a tour movie but with some interviews, like with me and fans," he said of the film, which is aiming for a 2015 release date. "A journey. Dave Davies's rock 'n' roll journey, which incorporates a lot of Kinks stuff and ... historical places that we talked about and interviewed about and showed in London. You know, so I'd be very excited to get that out."
