President Obama Grants Disaster Declaration for 25 Texas Counties
On Tuesday, February 9, President Barack Obama granted the January 26 disaster declaration requested by Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
Gov. Abbott issued the request after assessing the damages of an epic blizzard that blew through much of Texas, including Lubbock, in late December.
Per the disaster declaration, 25 Texas counties, including Lubbock County, have been approved for Public Assistance.
Individual assistance for six Texas counties remains under review.
In a statement released on Tuesday, an appreciative Governor Abbott thanked President Obama and FEMA.
"I want to thank the President and FEMA for granting my request for a disaster declaration in these 25 Texas counties, we will continue to work with our FEMA partners to rebuild these counties and ensure that they come back stronger than ever," said Gov. Abbott.
The Texas Counties granted Public Assistance are as follows:
Bailey, Castro, Childress, Cochran, Dallas, Deaf Smith, Dickens, Ellis, Hall, Hardeman, Harrison, Henderson, Hopkins, Kaufman, Kent, King, Lamb, Lubbock, Navarro, Parmer, Rains, Red River, Rockwall, Titus, Van Zandt.
Texas Counties Under Review for Individual Assistance:
Collin, Dallas, Ellis, Franklin, Rockwall, Van Zandt.
