More information has been released as to why the former CFO of Lubbock ISD was placed on paid administrative leave.

KAMC News reports that Lubbock ISD Chief Financial Officer Jeffrey Baum was placed on administrative leave on August 6th, 2019, but Lubbock ISD did not make that information public until September 12th, 2019.

On October 24th, 2019, it was announced that Baum had resigned from his position as CFO, which would be effective at the end of his contract, June 30th, 2020. In the meantime, Baum has been reassigned to what Lubbock ISD has referred to as “special projects."

An open records request by KAMC News revealed that Baum is the subject of an investigation for "inappropriate/unprofessional language with a district employee."

According to a memorandum by Lubbock ISD Superintendent Dr. Kathy Rollo, Baum is not allowed on school property without administrative approval pending the outcome of the investigation. He is also not allowed to have any contact with Lubbock ISD students or faculty.

It's unclear if Baum's resignation is connected to the outcome of the investigation, or if the investigation is still ongoing.
