Former Red Raider Anthony Lynn to Host Charity Madden Football Tournament
Anthony Lynn was a Red Raider running back who had 492 carries and nearly 2,000 yards with 20 touchdowns in his Texas Tech career. He went on to spend six years in the NFL with Denver and San Francisco. Since then, Lynn's had a successful NFL coaching career, working his way up from special teams coach to running backs coach before landing the interim head coach role with the Buffalo Bills.
After his successful stint taking over for a bad Bills team, he got the head coaching job with the Los Angeles Chargers.
Now, he's giving back to the community where he's from with the Lynn Family Foundation Madden Tournament on May 30th and 31st, 2020. If you make it to the second day of the tournament, you'll have the chance to play against NFL Players and celebrities. The proceeds will be going to the North Texas Food Bank, which has seen a 300 percent surge in food requests since March.
Anyone can register to play in the tournament on Saturday, May 30th. Just head to LynnFamilyFoundation.org to register. The starting price is only a $10 donation, or you can just pay $5 to stream the Sunday games. If you donate more, there are more prizes you can get in the end. Registration closes at 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27th.
"It’s important to us as a family to do what we can to help those in need during these hard times and helping families eat is an important cause," said LA Chargers Head Coach Anthony Lynn in a press release. "The Madden Tournament is something unique that we can do that keeps everyone at home while supporting a great cause. Supporting the North Texas Food Bank gives us an opportunity to help families experiencing financial hardships from COVID-19."
