You're going to need to get rid of your decorations at the City of Lubbock Cemetery by the end of April, or the cemetery will get rid of them for you.

Apparently an annual clean-up of cemeteries has been a thing for a while, but I (and likely many others) have only recently found out about it. I was first made aware of this sort of thing back in February when a bunch of families in Plainview were super upset with their cemetery decorations being thrown in the trash. An understandable reaction, really.

So now we're taking the time to let you all know that this is a thing so people don't get upset by this again.

Starting May 1st, 2022, any decorations left on memorials will be thrown away. Apparently they "impede mowing and trimming," which I suppose makes sense. If the cemetery had to take the time to individually take off and put back every single decoration, they'd be there forever.

Of course, you don't have to throw away the decorations you have on there. You could just take 'em off for a bit and then put them back on after the mowing is done.

A slight inconvenience, sure, but it's better than finding the decorations you've left for a loved one in a dumpster somewhere.
