Friday on Sunrise LBK with Dave King and Tom Collins, Amy Marquez with the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce joined Dave and Tom to talk about the 2021 Hub City Barbecue event in Lubbock.

It's almost time for the 21st annual Hub City Barbecue event here in Lubbock, where many teams meet to have their food judged and enjoyed by the public. The event will take place October 14th, 2021 from 5 - 8 p.m. at the South Plains Fairgrounds.

Marquez explained that once you purchase your ticket for $35, that you don't have to pull your wallet out again, as everything to enjoy is included in your ticket, including adult beverages, sodas and lots of BBQ. The event will also have performances from Jason Nutt and Highway 70, as well as Copper Chief.

"Can't beat that deal for $35 for some good BBQ, and some good networking, and some great entertainment," said Marquez.

Marquez explained that at least 74 teams will be cooking for the event, and will cooking through the night to compete in categories such as brisket, ribs, beans, bloody marys, a mystery challenge, and dessert to be judged Thursday morning.

This year will be the first year that you cannot buy tickets at the door, so Marquez is encouraging everyone to buy their tickets before they are sold out. You can get your tickets by going to hubcitybbq.com and buying them online, which will send your tickets to your email or by going to the Chamber's offices at 1500 Broadway, which is open Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. to buy them in person.
