It’s Time To Turn Off Outdoor Sprinklers In Lubbock
The City of Lubbock will spend the next six days below freezing as the Polar Vortex will send arctic air plunging into Texas. On Sunday and Monday, Lubbock will see some of the coldest temperatures we have seen in years. Sunday's high is now forecasted to be around 11 degrees for the high and -3 for the low. On Monday, the high will bump all the way up to 17.
So yes, it is going to be cold. And we might even see snow on Sunday.
Cold weather and the possibility of snow. That means it's time to bring in your pets and plants and please don't forget to do this very important thing.
Turn off your sprinkler system. Whether you are a business owner or homeowner, the next six days are not days where you need to water the grass. Nothing is going to get green the next few days and if you do water you are risking a fine from the City of Lubbock. Even worse, your water runoff could lead to icy intersections which could lead to wrecks and no one wants that to happen.
The City of Lubbock sent out a warning on Thursday, and if I were you, I'd take it seriously.
With below freezing temperatures and wintry precipitation forecasted the next few days, the City of Lubbock reminds citizens and local businesses to turn off their outdoor sprinkers. Irrigating when temperatures are below freezing can be dangerous, and further deteriorate winter weather road conditions. Irrigating during freezing events also violates City Ordinance and could lead to fines.
The good news? Snow should help your lawn. And it will be back into the 60's next weekend. But for the next six days, turn off your sprinkler system.
