Do you love a good tribute band? I sure do.

The thing with tribute bands is, they have to be better than the original. Yes, I said it — better than the original. If you saw a band like Van Halen and David Lee Roth was “off” that night, you'd still say, “Oh well…that’s David Lee Roth.” If you saw a Van Halen tribute and the singer was “off,” you’d probably call them the worst tribute band ever and never go see them again.

The Cactus Theater Has Some Big Tribute Shows Coming

The Cactus Theater in Lubbock has three tribute bands on tap that are sure not to disappoint.

First up is Mini Kiss. This band of little people brings the big rock sound to the Cactus this Thursday night.

Not to be outdone are the guys in Def Leggend — the #1 touring tribute to Def Leppard. This one’s on the books for Saturday night.

A Stevie Ray Vaughan Salute For Old-School Lubbock Fans

Rounding out the batch is one that’s sure to please old-school Lubbock folks: Texas Flood, the salute to Stevie Ray Vaughan, happening June 29th.

I’m a big fan of Back In Black — the AC/DC tribute band. I saw those guys absolutely murder it at Wild West Harley-Davidson, and it was time well spent…or a rockin’ time, if you prefer.
