St. Joseph’s Oktoberfest & Sausage Festival
I have a confession to make. I haven’t been entirely honest with you.
There’s such a thing as a “sin of omission,” and apparently, mine involves sausage.
I’ve talked about my love of sausage on the air a great deal. I love it so much that I host an event at my house called “The Festival of Tubular Meats,” where we serve—you guessed it—a whole bunch of sausages.
I also feel a little guilty ordering sausage at barbecue joints when I know the pitmaster spent 12 hours working on the brisket. Sorry, buddy. Follow your passion. I’m following mine.
The Sausage That Started It All
Here’s the part I’ve left out: it all started with visits from the folks at St. Joseph’s Sausagefest.
I’m not kidding. I guess I’d never really been exposed to quality sausage before those guys started bringing samples by the radio station. I know for a fact that the first jalapeño sausage I ever tasted came from St. Joseph’s.
These humble, hardworking sausage makers changed my life for the better. Some people have a spiritual awakening. I had a sausage awakening.
More Than Just Sausage
The event has grown into St. Joseph’s Oktoberfest and Sausagefest. You can still pick up sausage by the pound, but you can also enjoy live music, a full dinner, German beer, and plenty more.
