I’m not sure why someone builds something so oversized. Maybe it’s for attention or advertising, but it does feel like a labor-intensive way to stand out.
Texas Celebrates Another Giant Roadside Attraction
Texans don’t hesitate to roll up their sleeves and go big—and today that includes the world’s largest cedar rocking chair.
But before you’re too impressed, note the qualifier: “cedar.” That’s because someone built a non-cedar chair even bigger, so we had to modify our title.
You’ll find this massive chair outside Texas Hill Country Furniture & Mercantile in Lipan, Texas—just west-southwest of the Metroplex.
Here are the specs: it’s nearly 26 feet tall! That’s as long as the Statue of Liberty’s nose—or a school bus.
The chair features the classic “Star of Texas” styling that’s popular on rocking chairs statewide.

Not only can you stop by the place for a quick picture and furniture shop, there is also a restaurant next door. I can't imagine anything more Texas than eating BBQ, sippin' sweet tea and checking out a giant rocking chair.
