At Texas Tech there's one sports team that has a championship lineage and that's Lady Raider Basketball.

In the 1992-1993 season the team achieved the pinnacle of excellence for their sport, the NCAA Championship.  I'll give it to ya, that was 30 years ago, but we can still hear the echos of that championship today. Many of us are also reminded of the epic victory each time we drive on the (Coach) Marsha Sharp Highway.

Championship team member Krista Gerlich (formerly Krista Kirkland)) leads the squad and defines what it means to be a coach. Gerlich understands that excellence must be achieved on and off the court and always puts together a team that you can be proud to support.

Can the Lady Raiders stay strong and be contenders during the days of N.I.L. deals and the infiltration of money into college sports? I can't answer that question, and it will probably be a question every year, year to year, for as long as the cash is flowing to college athletes out there. What I can say is that by backing the Lady Raiders you can trust that you are standing behind a quality program that you can be proud of.

The Lady Raiders host an exhibition on October 28th hosting Northern Arizona at noon, then begin regular play on November 7th hosting the University Of Texas-Rio Grande Valley at United Supermarkets Arena. They will also have a number of other challenges before opening Big 12 play against the University Of Houston on December 30th in an away game.

Lady Raider games are inexpensive and a great way to get the family together, and even show kids the value of team sports. You can check out the full schedule here.
