While some of you hang onto football season, there's a general feeling that brighter days are ahead for Texas Tech Basketball.

So why do people get bullish on Texas Tech Basketball? It's simple, our basketball teams have had greater success than the guys on the gridiron, at least in recent history. In addition, our basketball teams have been talked about a lot more than our football program for any number of reasons. Then there are leaders of this new vibe: The Men's side has a new proven winner in charge, while the Lady Raiders continue with a proven champion in charge.

New Texas Tech Men's Basketball Coach Grant McCasland is expected to stack up the wins after a killer run with North Texas, including an N.I.T. championship. He inherits a program that was already rockin' to some degree so we should do well. Let's also not forget that this program gets tremendous fan support (support that has 100% changed the course of games).

On the other side of the gym is the incredible Krista Gerlich. I'm saying it right now if Gerlich ever separates from the University, then we riot. Gerlich balances excellence with approachability and runs her program the way every program at Texas Tech should be run, with honor, loyalty, and the highest levels of performance.

Both teams now know what lies ahead of them as the Big 12 has released basketball schedules. The Lady Raiders will debut in Lubbock on November 7th with a visit from the University Of Texas Rio Grande Valley. The Red Raiders will debut against Texas A & M in Denton in a "Compete 4 Cause" Exhibition, then open at home on November 8th against Texas A & M-Commerce.
