BUSTED: Over $31 Million Dollars Worth Of Drugs Found In Pepper Shipment At The Texas Border

It was a record-breaking bust at the Pharr International Bridge last week. United State Customs and Border Patrol Officers came across a shipment of serrano peppers and something just didn't seem right.

During an inspection of a tractor-trailer crossing from Mexico at the Pharr International Bridge, CBP officers first used "non-intrusive" inspection equipment before they physically examined the shipment according to Click2Houston.com.

Inside the trailer officers discovered serrano peppers, and mixed in with those peppers? 1,859 packages of methamphetamine. Those weighed in at 2,155 pounds. All hidden among the serrano peppers. According to KVUE, officials said that the value of the shipment was $31.1 million dollars.

"Our CBP officers continue to remain vigilant and intercepted this massive methamphetamine load, preventing it from reaching American streets," Port Director Carlos Rodriguez said.

Back in September, $17 million dollars worth of meth was seized by agents at the same bridge. The meth was found inside a shipment of coconuts at that time.
