Experience The Man In Black: A Tribute To Johnny Cash Live In Lubbock
If you’re a Johnny Cash fan in Lubbock, get ready to walk the line! On January 28, the critically acclaimed Shawn Barker will bring his hit show, The Man in Black: A Tribute to Johnny Cash, to the Cactus Theater. Trust me, this is as close as you’ll get to seeing the real deal!
Shawn Barker isn’t just any tribute artist—he’s the preeminent Johnny Cash performer, having sold over 500,000 tickets in more than 1,000 shows across 12 countries. With his baritone voice, striking resemblance to Cash, and a full backing band, Barker’s show takes fans on a journey through every era of the legend’s career. From “Folsom Prison Blues” to “Ring of Fire” to the hauntingly emotional “Hurt,” it’s a night of music that’ll transport you back in time.
Barker didn’t start out as Johnny Cash. Born in St. Louis, he served in the Army, worked as a carpenter, and spent years perfecting his voice by channeling legends like Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, and our own Buddy Holly. Ironically, his first gigs were as an Elvis impersonator, but a casting director for Million Dollar Quartet saw something special in Barker’s take on Cash and insisted he take on the role.
Even Cash’s longtime drummer, W.S. “Fluke” Holland, was blown away by Barker’s performance, calling it “exactly like The Johnny Cash Show from the 1960s.”
So, Lubbock, if you’re a fan of classic country or just great music, this is one show you can’t miss. Grab your tickets now at the Cactus Theater website, and keep an eye on our Facebook page for a chance to win tickets!
Let’s pack the house and show Shawn Barker how Lubbock celebrates the Man in Black!
