Leslie West of the 70’s Classic Rock Band Mountain Lost Part of His Leg
West remains in serious condition, a spokesman said yesterday morning.
“Mr. Weinstein is in serious, but stable condition,” said Richard Lucas, vice president of communications for Singing River Health System.
West, who was born Leslie Weinstein in 1945, came through surgery successfully Monday to amputate his right leg at the knee due to complications from diabetes.
“Leslie West is expected to fully recover, and faces extensive rehabilitation,” Karas said. “The family has requested that the public and media respect his privacy while he comes to terms with this life-changing transition.”
Now the ironic part...
Not to make light of Leslie's situation, but I can't help but point out the irony of the fact that Leslie may have to perform from a wheelchair in the future...just like the cover of an album he put out in 2005 called "Guitarded."
The cover art is a play on the blue and white handicapped parking sign...except that the stick figure in the wheelchair is holding a guitar.
