I was driving down the street the other day, and this car directly in front of me rolled their window down and threw a large fast food bag right out the window. I was somewhat taken aback and immediately thought it must be some kid that didn’t know any better. But to my dismay, I discovered that it was a woman around my age or older. 😕

I immediately broke into song, “Litterbug, litterbug, shame on you!” Do you remember that Disney short film? Apparently, this woman did not. 😞

Here’s a blast from the past in case you forgot.

Now, I’m not going to sit here and say that I have never littered. Of course I have, and so have you. But there came a point where it just didn't set well with me anymore. That’s why I'm happy to see that the City of Lubbock's Keep Lubbock Beautiful organization is unveiling a new litter prevention program called 10 on Tuesday.

This program encourages the Lubbock community to work together to keep our lovely city clean and litter-free.

How does it work? Simple. Every Tuesday, individuals or groups are called upon to pick up 10 pieces of litter. That’s it. It can be a straw wrapper, beer can, or large fast food bag that someone threw out their car window while driving down the road (insert straight face emoji here).😑

Getting involved is super easy. Just go to City of Lubbock Keep Lubbock Beautiful page to sign up. Let's work together to keep Lubbock Beautiful -- and keep me from breaking into the litterbug song!
