Have a new dog or cat that needs to get spayed or neutered? Are you also a citizen of Lubbock? If the answer to those questions is "yes," then get ready for Lubbock Animal Service's Summer "Spay" Cation event.

We all know it's important to control the pet population. We learned this years ago from the very wise Bob Barker, who would end every The Price Is Right episode by saying, "Help control the pet population. Have your pets spayed or neutered."

On Wednesday in Lubbock, people will have a chance to make Bob Barker happy as Lubbock Animal Services will host a drive-thru voucher giveaway to have your pet spayed or neutered. The giveaway will happen between 5 and 7 p.m. at Lubbock Animal Services located, 3323 SE Loop 289.

Here are the requirements, per Lubbock Animal Services:

Live inside Lubbock city limits & have proof of residency (i.e. Driver's License or Bill)
Only one voucher allowed per household
Must have paper proof of rabies vaccination
Agree to have your animal microchipped for a $5 fee at event (if not already).
The voucher will cover the cost of the anesthesia & the spay/neuter procedure. Any other cost incurred at the veterinarian office will be the owner's responsibility.
Please don't litter.
Spay or Neuter Your Critters.

This event is happening in Lubbock on Wednesday at Lubbock Animal Services, but remember that only 100 vouchers will be given out. If you aren't able to attend this Summer "Spay" Cation event, the next will be held on July 7th.

Make Bob Barker proud and help control the pet population.

LOOK: Here Are 30 Foods That Are Poisonous to Dogs

To prepare yourself for a potential incident, always keep your vet's phone number handy, along with an after-hours clinic you can call in an emergency. The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center also has a hotline you can call at (888) 426-4435 for advice.

Even with all of these resources, however, the best cure for food poisoning is preventing it in the first place. To give you an idea of what human foods can be dangerous, Stacker has put together a slideshow of 30 common foods to avoid. Take a look to see if there are any that surprise you.
