Thursday morning, January 16th, the Lubbock High School campus was placed on a hold protocol due to a rumor that someone had brought a weapon to campus.

Lubbock ISD police responded to the campus to investigate the rumor and found no evidence of a weapon on campus. The hold was lifted and classes resumed like normal.

The following email from Lubbock High School Principal Doug Young was sent to parents after the hold was lifted:

Earlier today, we became aware of unsupported rumors of a student with a weapon on our campus. We conducted a thorough investigation and found no basis for these rumors. This type of hoax is intended to disrupt instruction and will not be tolerated. If you have information regarding the source of this rumor, call me at 219-1600. Please remind your student that promoting false information can have serious consequences and to report any concerns to an administrator or teacher. Please know that student and staff safety is our highest priority. Thank you for your continued support for our school.
