During a meeting on Thursday, September 24th, the Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees appointed a principal for the new north elementary school and named their director of purchasing and contracted services.

Alma Cunningtubby will be serving as the principal of the new north elementary school, still unnamed, which will be open for the 2021-2022 school year.

Cunningtubby is currently serving as principal at Jackson and Guadalupe elementary schools, which are being consolidated with Wright Elementary for the new campus. She's been with the district since 1994, serving as a teacher at Ramirez, Hardwick and Iles elementary schools. She has also served as assistant principal at Dupre, Maedgen and Waters elementary schools.

At the same meeting, Steven Martinez was named the director of purchasing and contracted services. He comes from Roswell, New Mexico, where he was the city auditor for the City. He's also served as grant administrator and senior accountant for Valencia County.
